We are looking for two Area Service Managers – France

Valmet’s Automation Systems business line provides advanced automation and process control solutions, including the Valmet DNA Distributed Control System (DCS), for optimizing plant performance and reliability. Our automation expertise supports customers across various industries, from energy to process and marine, helping them achieve efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

We are looking for two Area Service Managers to cover sub-areas in France, supporting the Service Manager, Automation France in organizing and leading our local service teams and acting as the main point of contact for customers in the assigned region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment standards to meet company, customer, and legal requirements.
  • Manage and develop a team of around 10 service engineers, including scheduling, competence development, and recruitment.
  • Serve as the main contact point for customers, coordinating with sales, project, and technical teams as needed.
  • Oversee small and medium service projects, ensuring quality, profitability, and timely execution.
  • Support day-to-day service sales and secure delivery according to service agreements and road maps.
  • Manage and update the installed base within your area.
  • Proactively promote Valmet’s service offering, including upgrades, agreements, and lifecycle roadmaps.
  • Provide input on competence development and resource needs within your team.
  • Collaborate closely with Service and Capital Sales to provide accurate input and feedback.
  • Maintain efficient and transparent communication across all levels — management, operations, global support, order handling, and other Valmet business lines.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with a strong service-oriented mindset.
  • Technical background (Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of automation systems, ideally including Valmet DNA or equivalent
  • Good understanding of industrial client environments (pulp and paper, energy, biomass, etc.) and related processes.
  • Strong organization, coordination, and prioritization abilities.
  • Project management skills and financial awareness.
  • HSE-focused attitude and commitment.
  • Excellent customer communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
  • Driving license and willingness to frequently travel within France and occasionally abroad.
