Schneider Electric and Cloetta are turning to circular packaging solutions developed by DS Smith

As companies seek to reduce their reliance on plastic while maintaining the performance of their packaging and promotional displays, DS Smith highlights two recent achievements showcasing the potential of recycled and recyclable fiber-based solutions.

DS Smith collaborated with Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy technologies, to develop three recyclable corrugated cardboard packaging solutions for transporting high-performance electrical equipment. Designed to protect heavy industrial gear with multiple moving parts, these innovations streamline integration into automated production lines and ensure optimal protection throughout transit. Recognized at the 2026 WorldStar Global Packaging Awards, they demonstrate that single-use plastics can be replaced with fiber-based materials while meeting the most demanding industrial requirements.

In Northern Europe, DS Smith and Swedish confectioner Cloetta joined forces to develop four confectionery displays based on a so-called “harmonization” approach. Their interchangeable components (trays, bases, header panels, and interior elements) can be adapted for various products and promotional campaigns. This approach reduces the number of required parts by 35%, while simplifying storage, transport, assembly, and end-of-life recycling.

Both projects reflect a shared ambition: turning packaging innovation into a tangible lever for circularity, operational performance, and customer experience.
