Billerud launches a new generation of Billerud Flute®

Billerud is launching NEW Billerud Flute® – an improved version with even higher compression strength, opening up new possibilities for smarter corrugated packaging designs.

Compression strength is critical to the performance of corrugated packaging. With the additional strength of NEW Billerud Flute, converters can optimize board structures, reduce material use and lower packaging weight while maintaining the required packaging performance.

“Billerud Flute has been known for its strength for decades. With this new generation, we are taking that performance further,” says Martin Svensson, SVP Business Area Board at Billerud. “The increased strength gives converters greater freedom to optimize packaging designs for improved performance, lower weight and more efficient material use, without compromising runnability.”

The development is enabled by new headbox technology at Billerud’s Gruvön production site. The technology allows us to optimize and control fiber formation, resulting in significantly increased compression strength – creating new possibilities for packaging designed for demanding supply chain conditions.

Converters can also draw on the expertise of Billerud’s corrugated packaging specialists through BoxLab.

“Achieving the full value of stronger packaging materials requires more than material performance alone. Through BoxLab, we combine testing, data and packaging expertise to help converters optimize performance, sustainability and cost efficiency,“ says Martin Svensson, SVP Business Area Board at Billerud.

NEW Billerud Flute is designed for demanding corrugated packaging applications, such as fruit and vegetable packaging and heavy-duty applications.

NEW Billerud Flute will be launched at Fruit Attraction Madrid on October 6-8.
