James Cropper’s world-renowned Colour Lab will reveal the craftsmanship and technical precision behind achieving consistent colour across paper, moulded fibre and luxury packaging.
When Luxe Pack Monaco opens at the Grimaldi Forum from 28–30 September, British master papermaker James Cropper will invite visitors to step inside The Colour Lab on Stand DA05, where live papermaking demonstrations will reveal the craftsmanship behind achieving consistent colour across paper, moulded fibre and luxury packaging.
Colour is one of the most powerful assets a luxury brand owns. Reproducing that colour consistently across different materials, manufacturing processes and packaging formats requires remarkable technical precision. The Colour Lab has been designed to demonstrate how that challenge is overcome.
At the heart of The Colour Lab, James Cropper Technical Specialist Alison Rodwell will create hand sheets live across all three days, transforming fibre into paper before visitors’ eyes while demonstrating the expertise required to achieve consistent colour across paper, moulded fibre and premium packaging applications.
Five live demonstrations will take place each day, with a different colour taking centre stage. Deep blue hand sheets will be produced on day one, vibrant red on day two and vivid Coloursource green on the final day, allowing visitors to experience both the artistry of traditional papermaking and the precision behind colour consistency.
As each hand sheet is produced, visitors will be able to follow its journey from freshly formed paper to finished luxury packaging applications and moulded fibre components, demonstrating how a single colour can be translated consistently across multiple substrates.
Luxury packaging concepts, created exclusively for the exhibition by acclaimed UK paper artist Nathan Ward, demonstrate how those same colours translate into beautifully crafted finished applications, bringing together technical precision and creative possibility.
Inspired by Monaco’s distinctive architecture, the stand uses a restrained palette of white and grey to ensure each day’s demonstration colour becomes the centre of attention, creating an evolving showcase that changes throughout the exhibition.
Beyond the live demonstrations, visitors can continue exploring James Cropper’s expertise through the Paper Portal and the company’s latest Press Packs. Together, they showcase the breadth of the company’s portfolio while helping designers and brand owners discover new materials, colour possibilities and creative inspiration.
