Bracell receives European sustainability labels

Bracell has obtained the European Ecolabel and Nordic Swan labels for its manufacturing facility in Lençóis Paulista, São Paulo. These certifications are globally recognized for assuring good environmental practices in production processes and follow the ecological criteria established by the European Commission.

The certifications confirm the low levels of environmental impact in Bracell SP’s production processes. The company has the greenest and most modern pulp mill in the world, operating without fossil fuels and generating a renewable energy surplus for the national grid, sufficient to power a city of 3 million inhabitants. Another highlight is the three-stage effluent treatment, including tertiary treatment, making the company the first in the pulp industry in São Paulo state to adopt this measure.

“This achievement is the result of the joint efforts of Bracell’s Industrial Environment, Customer Technical Support and Commercial departments for the European Union. The labels represent our commitment to aligning all company areas around ESG practices, making it easier for customers who choose sustainable products,” says João Augusti, Bracell’s Sustainability Manager.

Established in 2011, the Ecolabel is the official European Union label for environmental excellence, granted to sustainably designed products that contribute to the circular economy. The Nordic Swan is a green label institutionalized by the Council of Ministers of the Nordic countries, which has been working since 1989 to reduce the environmental impact of the production and consumption of goods.
