Metsä Group’s parent company Metsäliitto Cooperative (Metsäliitto) and Japanese trading company Itochu Corporation (Itochu) have completed a transaction on 4 February 2026, in which Metsäliitto acquired a 5.1% stake in Metsä Fibre Oy (Metsä Fibre) from Itochu.
As a result of the transaction, Metsäliitto’s ownership in Metsä Fibre has increased to 55.2%, and Itochu now holds 19.9% of the total share capital of Metsä Fibre.The share of the third owner, Metsä Board Corporation, remained unchanged at 24.9%.
Itochu will remain as a committed minority shareholder in the company, and the long-term commercial cooperation between Metsä Group and Itochu will continue.
