Valmet and Sappi Saiccor have signed a three-year service agreement for boiler maintenance

Valmet and Sappi have signed a three-year service agreement for the MG01 boiler at Sappi’s Saiccor pulp mill in South Africa. The goal is to improve reliability of the operations and to reach the availability targets of the boiler.

The agreement has been effective as of November 2022. The value of the agreement will not be disclosed.

The boiler at the Sappi Saiccor mill is ageing, making it necessary to plan and develop preventive maintenance activities to keep up its operation and to shorten the length of its annual shutdowns.

We will perform comprehensive inspections and process studies to get a proper picture of the boiler’s current condition. Based on the results, we will help the customer plan and execute their maintenance activities, including the timely replacement of worn-out parts through on-site and remote expert services,” says Marko Nokkala, Senior Sales Manager, EMEA at Valmet.

Valmet and Sappi have already collaborated for years at Sappi’s Ngodwana mill in South Africa.

The new service agreement proves we have succeeded in adding value to the customer’s daily operations at Ngodwana. Mutual trust and commitment form an excellent platform for engaging in the new long-term agreement,” Nokkala continues.

The service agreement consists of boiler shutdown maintenance management services, planning and condition assessments, preventive maintenance planning, further mill development services as well as remote and on-site expert services and agreement management services.
