Market conditions for the pulp and paper sector, like any other industry, are being disrupted by the current global context. Carbon neutrality, geopolitical dismay, human ressources, availability of raw materials, energy supply and prices are some of the huge challenges paper mills operators are currently facing all at once.
The Prima Conference, organised by Smithers this week in Amsterdam, jointly with the Specialty Papers Conference, is obviously a good opportunity for industry leaders to share their concerns and hear about possible solutions to manage the risks of such a volatile environment.
The programme of the conference reflects this preoccupation with presentations from academics, experts and some prominent CEOs (Sappi Europe, Navigator, Norske Skog).
In the exhibition room, a dozen of companies promote their solutions, like Dow for coating solutions, GloCell for fiber analysis, Fiberlean for MFC, Ence for sustainable pulp or Kemira for chemicals.
