Sterimed, a global leader in medical packaging, is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Simagec
Group, a key player in France in medical packaging for the pharmaceutical industry and medical device
manufacturers.
Under the leadership of its controlling shareholder and current CEO Michel Lopez, the Simagec Group has
built its growth on its long-standing expertise in rigid packaging for the medical device industry. Today, it
provides its customers with a comprehensive range of products and services, including rigid and flexible
medical packaging solutions, contract packaging for medical devices, and validation and qualification
services.
The group then expanded its operations into the pharmaceutical industry, developing the packaging of
disinfectant liquids in aseptic clean rooms – a business now operated by Sima Pharma.
Finally, through the engineering department of Sima Meca, the group designs and manufactures machinery and equipment, both for its own needs and for those of its customers in the medical sector.
The Simagec Group, based near Marseille (South of France), currently has 120 employees.
For Sterimed, this acquisition greatly complements its existing operations and enables the group to further
strengthen its service offering to medical device manufacturers. It also accelerates its strategic growth in
the pharmaceutical industry.
Michel Lopez, Eléonore Jacquin, Managing Director and the management team of the Simagec Group will
continue to lead the growth of Simagec within Sterimed.
Michel Lopez and Eléonore Jacquin are both joining Sterimed’s entrepreneurial journey by becoming
shareholders of the Group through a significant reinvestment in the Les Amis de Sterimed structure,
alongside Sterimed’s management team, families, and financial partners. They are also joining the Group’s
management team by becoming members of the Group’s Executive Committee.
Thibaut Hyvernat, Chairman and CEO of Sterimed, remarked that: “The addition of the Simagec Group to Sterimed marks another significant milestone in the group’s development, remaining true to its vision and entrepreneurial DNA. In particular, it enables us to expand into two new business areas, namely rigid packaging for medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging, while strengthening our medical packaging business.
This merger, which was born from a powerful encounter between our respective teams that revealed a genuine shared vision and a common culture, fills me with great joy for the teams at both companies, and I extend a warm welcome to all Simagec employees as they join us on this journey.
I am delighted by the trust that Michel Lopez and Eléonore Jacquin have placed in us through their involvement with us in Les Amis de Sterimed, and I thank them for it, as well as for their continued commitment to the growth of Simagec and the entire group.”
Michel Lopez, Chairman of the Simagec Group, said:
“We are very pleased to join the Sterimed Group, a recognized leader in the medical packaging industry. This move marks an important milestone for Simagec and opens up new opportunities for growth.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Thibaut Hyvernat and his teams for their trust. We share a common vision centered on quality standards, innovation, and contributing to patient safety.
We are confident that combining our areas of expertise—particularly in the packaging of implants and the distribution of disinfectant solutions—will serve as a powerful driver to support the group’s growth and strengthen our impact in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.”
