Lecta announces a project to cease the CWF production at Condat mill and focus its activity on speciality paper

Lecta, the  manufacturer of specialty papers for labels and flexible packaging, coated and uncoated paper headquartered in Barcelona (SP), announced yesterday a project to cease the activity on PM4 at its Condat mill (Le Lardin St Lazare, France) which produces Coated Woodfree Paper (CWF) due to the strong decline in the graphic paper market. A reorganisation project was announced to the employee representatives on which they will be consulted.

Lecta foresees to focus Condat mill completely on the production of specialty papers, glassine and C1S, on PM8, in which it has invested through a conversion in 2021.

Additionally, Lecta is currently investing in an RDF boiler to provide a very cost competitive energy solution for PM8 and reduce the mill’s carbon footprint through a reduction of CO2 emissions, in line with Lecta’s Sustainability strategy and goals. The RDF boiler will be operational by mid-2024.

Lecta is committed to minimise the social consequences of the ceasing of CWF activities at Condat mill and will commence in the next days information/consultation meetings with its employee representatives.
