Fady Gemayel, the President of FEFCO, officially opened the 2023 Technical Seminar in Lyon, France.

The Federation of the European Corrugating Industry, FEFCO, is holding its Technical Seminar in the French city of Lyon this week.

The event, which takes place this week, saw its opening ceremony presided over by Mr. Fady Gemayel, who also serves as the chairman of Solicar in Lebanon, Norpaper, and Gemdoubs in France.

Following a captivating laser show, Mr. Gemayel delivered his welcome address, wherein he highlighted the environmental advantages of corrugated packaging in comparison to other materials, particularly concerning sustainability issues. Additionally, he expressed concerns about the PPWR regulation issued by the European Commission and its potential adverse impact. If not revised, this directive could run counter to the objectives of the Green Deal, favoring plastic-based packaging over fiber-based alternatives.

The central theme of this year’s seminar is “Shaping our future through innovation.” Delegates can look forward to a series of panel discussions and technical presentations that aim to provide valuable insights into how new solutions can assist producers and converters in enhancing their processes and reducing their carbon footprint through measures like lightweighting and energy conservation.
