ANDRITZ successfully starts up a new HERB recovery boiler at KR Pulp & Papers Limited, India

ANDRITZ has successfully started up a new 700 t/d HERB recovery boiler at KR Pulp & Papers Limited in Shahjahanpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The boiler is designed to handle a mixture of hardwood and agro-based black liquor and enables environmentally friendly and highly energy-efficient operation when compared to the black liquor incinerator previously used at the mill. Thus, the mill’s pulp production as well as the power-to-heat-ratio will increase substantially. The boiler also features a unique vertical air system to minimize air emissions.

The scope of supply also included:

  • Engineering for the entire system, excluding civil work and the electrical and automation equipment
  • All pressure parts
  • Auxiliaries such as start-up oil burners, black liquor burners, and smelt spouts
  • Safety-related system (SRS)

SG Agarwal, Director, KR Pulp and Papers Limited, says: “We are thankful to the ANDRITZ team members for their assistance in completion of the project with a high level of professionalism and dedication, which we very much appreciate.”

This was the first HERB recovery boiler sold in India with ANDRITZ’s proprietary, innovative and advantageous technology and the third of six HERB recovery boilers from ANDRITZ currently being installed in the country.
