Tieto delivers next-generation automated business application management to UPM


Covering over 150 applications across the majority of UPM business areas, the new, long-term contract concentrates on enabling the business areas with business centric application management services.

Tieto extends and broadens its collaboration with UPM. Covering over 150 applications across the majority of UPM business areas, the new, long-term contract concentrates on enabling the business areas with business centric application management services. Tieto will also provide application development capabilities. Benefits include in-built IT flexibility and scalability, operational efficiency and simplified governance, and further automation and utilization of Artificial Intelligence.  

Tieto has been selected to continue as UPM’s strategic IT service delivery partner in an expanded capacity. The new extended and broadened contract scope covers IT application management services for the majority of UPM business areas and functions. The application portfolio will cover all business applications from leading technology providers like Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce and SAP and a big set of other business critical services. The contract extension is five and half years in duration, with a further two-year extension option. 

UPM decided to continue with Tieto due to Tieto’s capabilities to respond to defined strategic key objectives, as well as comprehensive action plans to enable clear improvements in service delivery efficiency. The delivery takes place through a unique one team approach by Tieto and HCL. 

Benefits of the extended and broadened collaboration include considerable in-built IT flexibility and scalability allowing changes based on a changing business environmentoperational efficiency and simplified governance with two main partners for application management, IT infrastructure and workspace; and investments in automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other continuous improvements which result in efficiencies and improved service for users.
