The pulp and paper sector has emerged as a point of vital importance for economic and productive reactivation. More if possible in recent months. For this reason, from Feria de Zaragoza we want to give a greater boost to this industry that focuses its activity under two strategic principles: technology and sustainability. Thus, the second edition of SPAPER -International Exhibition of Machinery and Equipment for Pulp, Paper and Cardboard- is held, which will take place in Zaragoza (Spain) from 19 to 21 October.

Hand in hand with SMAGUA, the event has demonstrated the capacity of the companies linked to this market to be able to give an agile and professional response to the demands raised by other economic areas that it nurtures. In this sense, SPAPER 2021 will put on the table the solvency and strength of this sector with the presence of some of the main firms that mark the national and international market. For this, it will have the participation of exhibitors from Spain, Finland, Japan, the United States, Austria or Germany. Among the main firms, some such as Porteca, Bellmer, Ferpal, Voith, Valmet or Sulzer, among others, stand out. In addition to having the active contribution of the Clúster del Papel de Euskadi or Itainnova.

It is a biennial fair, which responds to an exclusively professional profile and is conceived as a great business opportunity, thanks to the union of the exhibition area with the celebration of an extensive and interesting program of technical conferences and seminars. In this second edition, we must highlight the celebration of the IV Paper Technical Forum that, for the first time, leaves the Basque Country to come to Zaragoza, where it will take place on October 20, within the framework of SPAPER. Organized by the Euskadi Paper Cluster Association, the meeting aims to briefly and directly present some of the news, technical solutions and challenges facing the paper industry, providing solutions and opportunities to companies and professionals who dedicate your day to day to this area. On this occasion, the professional event will feature the participation of seven speakers who will address as many technical areas of the paper production process.

The pulp and paper industry is an important sector of the Spanish economy. It is made up of some 1,640 companies that employ more than 44,000 workers and has a turnover of close to 14,000 billion euros.

According to the 2020 report recently presented by Aspapel, the Spanish pulp and paper bio-industry is the second largest paper recycler in Europe after Germany and has maintained that high level of recycling in 2020, despite the pandemic, recycling 5,130. 400 tons of used paper in 2020, a similar volume (-0.4%) to that of 2019. Thanks to this great recycling capacity, the Spanish paper industry guarantees the recycling in our country of all the paper and cardboard collected selectively, which complies with European quality standards (European standard UNE-EN 643).

FROM OCTOBER 19 TO 21, THE PROFESSIONAL APPOINTMENT WITH THE SECTOR

The first edition of the paper, cardboard and cellulose contest, held in March 2019 and in parallel with SMAGUA, had the support of professionals and was attended by almost 7,000. After the good results achieved by the paper appointment, SPAPER will once again have the strategic support of SMAGUA, since both contests present important synergies, which are very interesting for both sectors. The International Exhibition of Machinery and Equipment for Pulp, Paper and Cardboard will bring together companies and professionals from October 19 to 21, 2021, in Hall 6 of Feria de Zaragoza.
