REPACAR Renews its Board of Directors and Strengthens its Role as the Leading Association for Paper and Cardboard Recycling in Spain

The Spanish Association of Paper and Cardboard Recyclers and Recoverers (REPACAR) has held its extraordinary electoral General Assembly. This meeting takes place every three years to elect the members of its Board of Directors, the Association’s executive body responsible for defining the organization’s strategic lines and representing the General Assembly.

In accordance with the Association’s statutes, which set a three-year limit for each mandate, members proceeded to elect the president and the eleven board members who will form the entity’s new governing body.

During this process, Manuel Fernández Álvarez was re-elected as President, a position he will hold until 2029. Mr. Fernández has maintained a long-standing connection with REPACAR since his company, HIJOS DE DEMETRIO FERNÁNDEZ S.A., joined the Association in 1978. Over the past few years, he has held various responsibilities within the entity, in addition to serving as president during the last term.

The new REPACAR Board of Directors will be composed of the President and eleven board members, structured as follows:

  • President: Manuel Fernández Álvarez (HIJOS DE DEMETRIO FERNÁNDEZ S.A.)

  • Board Members:

    • Santiago Bañón Irujo (BIDASOA ECOGESTIÓN, S.L.)

    • Sergi Cardiel Gelabert (LLORENS GMR, S.L.U.)

    • José Antonio García Portas (CARTÓN Y PAPEL RECICLADO, S.A.)

    • Julio García Martínez (VIGUERA GESTIÓN DE RESIDUOS, S.L.)

    • Rafael Guerola Segura (GRUPO PAPREC-RECICLATGES GUEROLA, S.L.U.)

    • Iñigo Jalón Marijuan (BEOTIBAR RECYCLING, S.L.)

    • José Andrés Martín Cubero (MC2 RECYCLING, S.L.)

    • Pedro Luis Martínez Garrigues (MARTÍNEZ CANO CANARIAS, S.A.)

    • Jorge Merino Mochón (IRMASOL, S.L.)

    • Sebastián Solís Ruiz de Lopera (S.SOLIS, S.A.)

    • Carlos Ventós Parés (SAICA NATUR, S.L.)

The new governing team begins this term with the goal of further strengthening REPACAR’s role as the leading association in the sector, both nationally and internationally. In a context shaped by significant regulatory changes and new challenges for the recycling and recovery industry, the organization will continue to work to defend the interests of paper and cardboard recovery and recycling companies in Spain and to promote the development and competitiveness of the sector.
