Release, in France, of the film “The factory, the good, the bad and the ugly”, dedicated to three former employees of UPM Chapelle Darblay

The film “The factory, the good, the bad and the ugly” traces, for 1 hour 15 minutes, the mobilization of three former employees of the UPM factory at Chapelle Darblay in Grand-Couronne (in France), so that their site could be taken over as part of a papermaking project. This film will be released in France on January 3*. After the takeover offer made by Samfi/Paprec, followed by the pre-emption of the site by the Métropole de Rouen in May 2022, Veolia and Fiber Excellence announced their partnership in order to convert the factory to the production of corrugated case material (CCM). But, for the moment, this project has not yet materialized.

The film was shot between spring 2021 and July 2022. Its purpose is not to go behind the scenes of the negotiations. He is interested in the characters (Arnaud Dauxerre, Julien Sénécal and Cyril Briffault) in their common struggle and their relationships. The camera thus films their trio and describes their daily life. It pays tribute to their perseverance, despite some moments of despondency and to their ability to put oil in the wheels so that the stakeholders talk to each other. The spectator follows them step by step, in their anger, their hopes, their hesitations or their joys The interview with the director, Marianne Lère-Laffitte, will be published in the December-January issue of “La Papeterie” Magazine.
