Production at the Fibre Excellence Saint-Gaudens plant is back on track after a major maintenance and modernisation stop

The French paper mill Fibre Excellence Saint-Gaudens resumed production last week after a two-week shutdown to carry out maintenance and modernisation work. As expected, this important step in the life of the mill included the commissioning of the mill’s new wash press, which will reduce the use of chemicals in the bleaching process, and the completion of the full connection of the new underground bioxide line. Alongside the partner companies, the employees also carried out numerous inspections and works, as well as permanent replacements of parts and equipment, to improve the safety of production and people on the site.

No case of Covid-19 was recorded during this shutdown, which shows the strong involvement and responsibility of the teams and external contributors for the proper implementation of health measures specifically designed for this exceptional site.

The many operations programmed went smoothly and enabled the plant to be gradually restarted.

In a positive market context, the plant will now concentrate on the production dynamics while starting to prepare the next maintenance events.

Located in the South of France, Fibre Excellence Saint-Gaudens has a production capacity of some 280,000 tpy of market pulp.
