ABTCP (Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association) in partnership with IPEF (Institute for ForestResearch and Studies), and TAPPI (Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry), will host ABTCP 2026 – 58th Pulp and Paper International Congress and Exhibition, from October 6 to 8 in São Paulo, at the Transamerica Expo Center.
The event is the leading gathering of companies and professionals across the forest-based production chain in Latin America and has established itself as a strategic platform for discussing industry trends, exchanging experiences, and sharing technical knowledge on technologies, processes, and solutions that are reshaping the industry’s competitiveness.
This year’s Congress theme, “Strengthening the forest-based bioeconomy,” highlights the sector’s role in transitioning to a low- carbon economy based on renewable resources and technological innovation. “The forest-based bioeconomy represents a concrete growth opportunity for Brazil, combining innovation, scale, and sustainability. We are entering a new phase in which biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and new materials are driving the sector’s evolution,” said Francisco Razzolini, Director of Industrial Technology, Innovation, and Sustainability at Klabin and Chair of the ABTCP 2026 Congress.
A global benchmark in large-scale bioeconomy, with practices ranging from responsible forest management to industrial decarbonization, Brazil’s planted tree industry supplies recyclable, biodegradable, and renewable-based bioproducts used daily by 2 billion people, according to data from the 2025 annual report of Ibá (Brazilian Tree Industry).
The call for papers closed on April 10, with more than 200 submissions received. They will be reviewed by the ABTCP 2026 Congress Evaluation Committee, and selected papers will be presented in technical and poster sessions covering topics such as pulp, paper, forestry, Industry 5.0, digital transformation, among others.
According to Razzolini, “The ABTCP Congress is the sector’s main platform for integration, where different generations come together to discuss innovation, technology, and the paths that will shape the future of the forest-based industry.” Last year, the Congress had more than 1,000 participants from Brazil and around the world, and this year’s partnership with TAPPI is expected to attract an even greater number of international researchers and professionals.
Exhibition, Congress Dinner, and Awards
The international technology exhibition will feature more than 4,000 square meters of space. According to Milena Lima, responsible for organizing the ABTCP Exhibition, demand for available space exceeded expectations, which were already high given the success of recent editions.
“Even after expanding the exhibition area by 600+ square meters compared to the last edition, 100% of the space available is sold out. This strong demand reflects exhibitors’ confidence in the networking environment provided by the Exhibition,” said Milena.
The event website, www.abtcp2026.org.br, is updated weekly so that companies interested in exhibition space can review the floor plan and check for any openings resulting from cancellations. “If cancellations occur, requests will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. In parallel, companies may also sponsor the event to showcase their brand in event materials and on-site,” she added, noting that the media kit with sponsorship options is available under the “Promote Your Company” section on the ABTCP 2026 website.
The program will also include the traditional Congress Dinner, held on the second day of the event, as well as the return of the Industry Excellence Awards, which will rejoin the agenda with a renewed format after a one-year pause. The new award guidelines will be released in April, and companies interested in participating should follow updates on the ABTCP 2026 website, www.abtcp2026.org.br.
