Geir DRANGSLAND takes over management of Norske Skog Golbey

After more than 30 years of service to the Norske Skog Group, Yves BAILLY steps down from his position as President of Norske Skog Golbey this July 2, 2026. This decision will allow Yves BAILLY to claim his retirement benefits.

Geir DRANGSLAND, principal shareholder and CEO of the Norske Skog Group, will take over the management of the facility on a transitional basis until December 2026, accompanied by Christoffer BULL, current Senior Vice President Business Development within the Norske Skog Group.

A reinforced presence of the Group at its most strategic facility

Norske Skog Golbey currently represents the Norske Skog Group’s largest Business Unit in terms of investment, production capacity, and assets. This change in governance comes as Norske Skog Golbey continues the ramp-up of its new containerboard production line, a major milestone in the industrial transformation undertaken in recent years.

“The transformations initiated in Golbey over the past few years have turned the facility into a strategic asset for the Group. I want to personally support the teams during this ramp-up phase to ensure the continuity of this momentum,” stated Geir DRANGSLAND, CEO of the Norske Skog Group.

A tenure marked by a series of site adaptations and transformations

Yves BAILLY managed Norske Skog Golbey for 20 years. Under his leadership, the site transitioned from a linear to a circular model: establishing industrial partners near the mill (Pavatex, Eurorail), investing in renewable energy (first biogas unit in 2018, second unit in 2024, construction of the GVE biomass boiler north of the facility), and switching to an exclusive supply of recycled fibers (2023).

Driven by this same momentum, the facility conducted the BOX project, aimed at converting one of its two newsprint production lines into a containerboard line for the recyclable packaging market.

“Throughout my career, I have strived to make this site competitive. The results of the newsprint line are encouraging. And for the packaging line, once the ramp-up is fully achieved, Golbey will become one of the reference sites in our industry. I have total confidence in its future and in its ability to always reinvent itself,” stated Yves BAILLY, President of Norske Skog Golbey.
