Lucart presents its 21st Sustainability Report: decarbonisation, circularity, and industrial responsibility guide the Group’s growth in Europe

Lucart, the multinational paper group known for the Tenderly, Tutto, Lucart Professional and Grazie EcoNatural brands, today presented in Lucca its 21st Sustainability Report, which outlines the results achieved in 2025 and confirms the Group’s path towards an industrial model increasingly focused on decarbonisation, resource-use efficiency, circularity and social responsibility.

In 2025, Lucart further strengthened its industrial base and continued to advance its ESG journey. The Group achieved significant results in climate governance, improved environmental performance, responsible management of people and the supply chain, while also consolidating its European presence through the strategic acquisition of Cartindustria Eurocarta.

In a complex and energy-intensive sector such as paper manufacturing, Lucart thus confirms an approach to sustainability based on measurable targets, structured control systems and the progressive integration of industrial competitiveness, environmental responsibility and long-term development.

“For Lucart, sustainability is not a separate chapter from growth, but the way in which we build long-term industrial competitiveness. The year 2025 clearly demonstrates this: we strengthened our European presence, obtained scientific validation of our climate targets, improved our environmental performance and consolidated our commitment to people and the supply chain. In an energy-intensive and complex sector such as paper manufacturing, these results confirm that innovation, responsibility and industrial solidity can move forward together,” said Francesco Pasquini, CEO of Lucart.

Climate targets validated and environmental performance improving

During 2025, Lucart took a significant step forward in its decarbonisation journey, obtaining validation of its emissions reduction targets from the Science Based Targets initiative. This recognition confirms the alignment of the Group’s climate strategy with the goals of the Paris Agreement and strengthens the credibility of the path undertaken towards the progressive reduction of its environmental impact.

In terms of environmental performance, specific greenhouse gas emissions fell to 370.47 kg per tonne of paper produced and converted, compared with 385.85 kg recorded in 2024, a decrease of 4%. The target for water consumption set for 2025 was also achieved and exceeded, with a value of 9.38 m³ per tonne of paper produced, compared with the 9.40 m³ target. This result confirms the Group’s commitment to improving efficiency in the use of a resource that is central to its sector.

Significant progress was also made around the circular economy. The percentage of waste sent for recovery reached 95.7%, well above the 90% target set for 2030. The improvement path for sustainable packaging is also continuing: 85% now contains more than 30% recycled material, up from 82% in 2024.

With regard to raw materials, Lucart confirms its production model based on the balanced use of certified virgin cellulose and paper for recycling, which account respectively for 46% and 54% of the total raw materials used. This approach integrates product quality, safety, industrial efficiency and circularity.

Industrial strengthening and European development

In 2025, Lucart consolidated its international industrial dimension, with more than 1,700 employees, 11 production plants, 12 paper machines and a total production capacity of approximately 400,000 tonnes of paper per year. Group revenue stood at €677 million.

Among the main strategic developments of the year was the acquisition of Cartindustria Eurocarta, finalised in December 2025. The transaction enabled Lucart to further strengthen its presence in European markets and develop new industrial, production and commercial synergies in the Away from Home sector, expanding the Group’s expertise and production capacity.

People, safety and social responsibility

People development continues to be a central element of the company’s strategy. During 2025, Lucart further strengthened its occupational health and safety activities, consolidating the path that led to ISO 45001 certification for all production plants as early as 2024.

The Group’s commitment contributed to a significant reduction in workplace accidents, both in terms of frequency and severity, compared with the previous year. Particularly significant was the achievement of the Zero Target at the plants in Torre di Mosto (Venice), Nyergesújfalu in Hungary and Blackmore Park in the United Kingdom, which recorded no employee accidents during 2025.

In the same year, the collaboration with Save the Children also continued through support for the “Fiocchi in Ospedale”, “Spazi Mamme” and “Punti Luce” programmes, dedicated to the wellbeing and development of children and their families. The partnership was renewed in 2026 for a further three-year period, confirming the Group’s commitment to supporting educational and social projects, corporate volunteering initiatives and fundraising campaigns for international emergencies.

ESG governance, ratings and control systems

For the fourth consecutive year, Lucart obtained the EcoVadis Platinum Medal, the highest recognition awarded by the international ESG rating agency. The score represents the best result ever achieved by the Group and confirms a path of continuous improvement that saw Lucart move from 75/100 in 2022 to 89/100 in 2025.

During the year, the Group also further strengthened its governance and control system, obtaining ISO 14064 certification for the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions.

As further evidence of the company’s commitment, Lucart successfully passed the BSCI audit, confirming its commitment to high standards of social responsibility along the value chain.

The Report was presented in Lucca during the event “Trasparenti per scelta, responsabili per natura” (“Transparent by choice, responsible by nature”), moderated by journalist and environmental advocate Tessa Gelisio, with the participation of representatives from Lucart, academia, think tanks and the third sector.

Speakers included Francesco Pasquini, CEO of Lucart; Michele Noera, Sustainability & Energy Transition Manager at Lucart; Serena Carlesi, Sustainability Account at Lucart; Fabio Iraldo, Professor of Management at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa; Marta Lovisolo, Senior EU Policy Account at Fondazione Think Tank Ecco ETS; Giancarla Pancione, Fundraising, Marketing & Brand Director at Save the Children; and Carlo Romeo, Chief Human Resources Officer at Lucart. The meeting was further enriched by the contribution of digital journalist Francesco Oggiano, who offered a reflection on the role of transparency, language and communication in making sustainability more understandable, credible and closer to people.

With its 21st Sustainability Report, Lucart renews its commitment to promoting increasingly efficient, circular and long-term-oriented production models, continuing a path that places innovation, transparency, industrial responsibility and the creation of shared value at its core.
