Nova F, part of Stora Enso’s unbleached kraft pulp portfolio, is a high-purity grade produced at their Enocell Production Unit in Finland. Known for its long, stiff fibers and consistent quality, Nova F is trusted for demanding applications where strength and reliability matter.
One pulp grade. Two worlds of end uses.
Previously known as Nova FC, this grade has been used by customers in construction for production of fiber cement boards. But its capabilities extend beyond one industry. Nova F also delivers exceptional performance in filtration, making it a versatile solution for filter manufacturers seeking both technical excellence and sustainability.
“The rename makes the versatility clear,” says Eero Ollila, Product Director at Stora Enso. “This grade was always capable of more than one thing; it’s designed for demanding end uses in construction and filtration.”
Nova F as part of the Nova product family
As part of the Nova product family of unbleached, low-kappa, high-purity kraft pulps, Nova F complements Stora Enso’s two other specialised grades: Nova, designed especially for demanding food packaging, tissue, and specialty papers, and Nova E, tailored for electrical insulation applications. Together, these grades reflect our commitment to advancing renewable solutions through continuous innovation in specialised pulp grades.
The name change is simple yet meaningful: Nova F signals clarity and aligns with the Nova family, helping customers to understand what they’re getting — a renewable material designed for multiple end uses without compromise.
Delivering performance and sustainability customers can rely on
Nova F brings together two qualities that matter most: technical excellence and environmental responsibility. Its fibers, greater than 2.3 millimetres in length, deliver strength and stability for fiber cement boards and create the porous structure filtration demands. These properties aren’t just theoretical – they’re validated by leading customers in construction and filtration, proving Nova F’s reliability in real-world applications.
“When industry leaders choose Nova F for their most demanding applications, that is more convincing than any specification,” says Eero Ollila. “Their trust confirms that this grade delivers consistent performance where it matters most.”
Beyond technical performance, Nova F is designed for a world that values renewable solutions. Compared to bleached kraft pulp, Nova F has a carbon footprint about 30% lower. Produced from certified renewable wood in Finland, it is fully traceable, food-contact approved, and meets the highest Nordic and EU eco standards – giving manufacturers confidence in both compliance and sustainability.
One grade, two worlds – looking ahead
From façades that shape modern architecture to filtration products that touch everyday life, Nova F enables solutions that combine durability, purity, and environmental responsibility. These applications may seem worlds apart, but they share something important: they demand strength, purity, and sustainability. Nova F brings all of that together in one grade.
“Nova F isn’t just a rename—it represents versatility without compromise and reflects Stora Enso’s mission to replace non-renewable materials with renewable solutions, supporting a more sustainable future for industries and society alike,” concludes Ollila.
