Latin America’s tissue leaders meet in August in Sao Paolo

The tissue market has been standing out as one of the biggest growth opportunities for the pulp and paper industry in Brazil and around the world.

Amid rising global trade barriers, major players in the forest products sector are rapidly integrating their supply chains to enhance security, competitiveness, and diversification. By 2025, five of the world’s top 12 tissue producers will manage integrated operations from raw materials to finished goods.

In Brazil, this trend is accelerating: three integrated producers now account for 45% of the country’s capacity–over 1 million tonnes annually. The Latin American tissue industry faces increased competition from imports, prompting strategic shifts among local manufacturers.

Navigating this market demands constant strategy and insights. Fastmarkets will gather industry leaders from August 11–13 at Fastmarkets Forest Products Latin America Conference 2025 in Sao Paulo to discuss key challenges, opportunities, and trends.

On August 12, a panel of integrated producers will examine how vertical integration enhances efficiency and competitiveness in Brazil and Latin America.

On August 13, a lunch-time session with representatives from non-integrated producers will open the floor for a discussion on the challenges of operating in a competitive and oversupplied market. The session will join:

  • Luciano Barboza, General Director at Ipel
  • Marcelo Domenico, CEO at Damapel
  • Walter Mainardi, CEO at Mainardi Participações
  • Felipe Quintino, CEO at Tissue Online and moderator of the panel

In addition, Fastmarkets tissue economist Stephanie Hsia will present her exclusive analysis on the key trends shaping the future of the sector.

  • Consumption behaviour developments
  • Trade flow movements
  • Home vs. away-from-home sector dynamics
  • Supply and demand trends
