Our desire is that everyone can benefit and acquire knowledge from our programme and continue to be informed about major trends in the global circular bioeconomy. We have a world-wide reach this year but with an emphasis on topics relating to the Global South and Amazon region. We are delighted to already have an impressive line-up of speakers from various sectors.”

Grant Rosoman, Forests Solutions Senior Campaigns Advisor for Greenpeace International, says, “The World BioEconomy Forum is a great platform to discuss and help find solutions with the private sector and government on how bio-based products can be responsibly produced. It can in particular provide leadership in responsible sourcing of bio-materials that are within Earth’s planetary boundaries, including no deforestation, ecological agriculture and forestry, respect for indigenous rights and moving away from burning biomass as fuel.

I’m excited to be part of the WBEF Forum in Belém, Brazil, not only as this is the first time the forum is held in a tropical producer country but to dig more deeply into key issues on biomaterial feedstocks, including the opportunities that integrated landscape management provides. I am looking forward to seeing the role of The BioEconomy Forum and the declarations it has made in ensuring that its members and partners are ‘walking the talk’.”

Teresa Presas, Board Member of The Navigator Group, and moderator of the CEO Panel to be held at the event, says, “Business is a fundamental actor of the bioeconomy. In order to play their role in the most successful way it is important that companies and their strategies, innovations and activities are framed within a clear and supportive scenario. The World BioEconomy Forum will provide the stage for business to interact with different stakeholders to create a mutual understanding of each other’s contribution and bridge with relevant audiences.

“The famous statement “Think Global, Act Local” has not aged. Although the challenges we face are global, the solutions must match individual circumstances. We expect these thoughts will become evident in Belém, creating mutual understanding of each other’s contribution, to bring to the fore a sustainable bio-based economy in our societies.”
