The WEPA Group, one of the three largest European manufacturers of hygiene paper products, and MPH1865, a leading French manufacturer of hygiene paper products and soaps for the away-from-home (AFH) market, are considering a merger. The WEPA Group intends to acquire a majority stake in MPH1865.
The objective is to further internationalize WEPA’s presence in Europe in the AFH hygiene market and to better meet the expectations of customers and markets. The completion of the transaction remains subject to obtaining all necessary authorizations, including those related to concentration controls.
This proposed acquisition represents a long-term strategic step for both companies, as combining their strengths will enable international growth and strengthen their position in the French professional hygiene market.
WEPA and MPH1865 are both family-owned businesses and share strong values: operational excellence, local production, employee commitment, customer focus, and sustainability. This transaction will combine the strengths of both companies for the benefit of customers, employees, and the entire industry. Customers and partners, both in France and internationally, will benefit from a strengthened presence in the French professional market, a broad portfolio of hygiene solutions, and a consistently high level of quality, service, and environmental performance.
MPH1865’s network of industrial sites will be fully maintained and strengthened, and all employees will be retained. Marc Miribel will remain President of the company, which will remain headquartered in France.
Andreas Krengel, Chief Commercial Officer of the WEPA Group (picture), stated:
“We are delighted to continue our development in France and to deepen Franco-German cooperation. As family businesses, MPH1865 and WEPA share the same values and a long-term vision that transcends generations; this is a natural partnership.“
Marc Miribel, Chairman and CEO of MPH1865, added:
“This partnership is a key step in securing the future of our company. It will allow us to strengthen local production, secure industrial capacity, and continue developing the professional hygiene market in France, while benefiting from the WEPA Group’s experience and European network.”
A Portrait/Profile of Marc Miribel will be published in the next issue of “La Papeterie Mag” (N° 400 December-January).
