The industry’s drivers discussed at Tissue World Miami

Once again, professionals in the tissue sector from North and South America are convening in Miami this week for the Tissue World conference and exhibition. The previous edition in 2022 still felt the lingering effects of the Covid crisis, impacting visitorship. However, this year is a different story. The exhibition floor is hosting major international suppliers and some producers from Turkey, Italy, or the Middle East region, who operate or sell in the American market.

The conference is well-attended, and the agenda is highly focused on the challenges of running a business in a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) world. Inspirational speakers such as Jean-David Tardiff, President and COO of Cascades Tissue, and Susan Irving, the Chief Marketing Officer of Kruger, another Canadian producer, are contributing their insights. Jacob Shapiro, Director of Cognitive Investments, delivered an insightful speech about the past and present geopolitical environment, while Marcus Hellberg of SCA, along with Mikael Selling of Opticom, gave a lecture on the potential impact of the new EU Deforestation Regulation on the tissue market that seems difficult to implement.

Carbon neutrality and decarbonization are central issues addressed from both strategic and technical perspectives by consultants and industrial experts.
