Stora Enso has chosen BTG as its long-term partner to improve fiber line process control

Stora Enso has invested over the last two years in a wide range of BTG inline and continuous measurement systems to support control of its hardwood, softwood and fluff lines at the Skutskär mill.

This consists in Bleach Load Transmitters (BLT) measuring total kappa, Brightness Transmitters (BT) for the pulp brightness, Consistency Transmitters (TCR) using optical technology to measure the total pulp consistency, and Single Point Kappa Analyzers (SPK) providing online and high frequency measurement of fiber kappa and hexuronic acid (HexA).

In addition, Stora Enso Skutskär operates a vast number of BTG consistency transmitters based on rotating shear force technology (MEK) for the base line production rate and consistency control.
“BTG was chosen because they demonstrate the best combination of advanced and durable technology” says Jonas Heikkinen, Stora Enso Skutskär Department Manager Fiber.

Going forward, these state-of-the art measurement technologies prepare the foundation for advanced solutions of predictive control that will maximize the economic impact.

Part of the bioeconomy, Stora Enso is a leading global provider of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wooden construction, and paper. Skutskär Mill in eastern Sweden is a modern pulp mill that primarily produces fluff pulp for diapers, other hygiene products and non-wovens, but also pulp for liquid packaging board and specialty paper.
