Turkish Packaging Sector stands out as a significant sector with an annual average growth trend of 15% since 2011 compared to 2023 goals set for Turkey. One of the exceptional sectors of Turkey
without foreign trade deficits, the packaging sector has 2023 goal to set its market volume increasing up to USD 30 billion as well as per capita consumption from USD 240 up to USD 300 in the meantime
and export volume from USD 4 billion up to USD 10 billion.
According to the “Turkish Packaging Sector 2015” report prepared by Packaging Manufacturers Association analyzing the market status in the world and Turkey, it is estimated that global packaging industry that has an annual average growth rate of 3% will reach a turnover rate of USD 820 billion in 2016. Turkish Packaging Sector also has a major effort to get a better share of this potential since it has a growth rate trend that doubles the economic growth rates of the country as of 2014. According to the material groups covered in the report, plastic packaging is the first material group with 38% for 2014 production
rates followed by corrugated cardboard with 27%, glass packaging with 15%, wooden packaging with 7%, cardboard packaging with 6%, metal packaging with 5% and paper packaging with 2%.
This data is also backed up with the fact that 56 packaging sector companies are included in the 1000 company list of this year prepared by ?SO (Istanbul Chamber of Industry. The biggest share
belongs to flexible packaging with 5,1 billion TL and packaging raw material and components with 4,1 billion TL for manufacturing sales in the list based on the packaging manufacturing material groups
and that is followed by paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard sector with 3,6 billion TL. 14 % of the companies belong to the paperpaper board- corrugated cardboard sector in terms of business
segments.
Turkish Corrugated Cardboard Sector has set a goal of 4 million tons of production for 2023. We hope that 2016 will be a successful year for Turkey with the goal of becoming fifth in Europe in manufacturing
since Turkey is the seventh now in Europe and for all sectors to grow.
