The first half of 2018 was a challenging process under the influence of economic and politic developments for Turkey The paper industry which sustained its development despite everything maintained its upward tendency in production and capacity According to the Pulp and Paper Industry Foundation (SKSV) data, paper-cardboard production capacity in 2017 increased by 2 6 percent to 5 171 000 tons compared to the previous year The net increase in capacity here has been achieved thanks to machine modernization in newsprint paper, corrugated cardboard, cardboard and tissue papers Production was 4,356,823 tons with 8 3 percent growth
A remarkable point in the report says that the amount of recovered scrap paper has been 4 039 187 in 2017 with an increase of 127 percent compared to 2016 The rate of recovery of paper and cardboard in Turkey in 2017 was as high as 51 9 percent The report estimates paper-cardboard production in the year 2018 to be 4,645,000 tons. It is also indicated that a new investment of 1 100 000 tons will be made in corrugated cardboard paper In the report prepared upon orders from The Association of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (OMÜD) titled "Turkey Packaging Industry, Corrugated Cardboard Consumption and Economic Impact Analysis”, it is indicated that despite the average growth rate of 0 9 growth prospects in European countries between the years 2016-2021, the average would be 5 6 per cent of those for Turkey Turkish Corrugated Cardboard Industry which has a production capacity of 3 million tons of
corrugated cardboard in 110 mills owned by 88 manufacturers in 2017, also conducted 2 2 million tons of export in 2017 and 164 thousand tons of sales
