How can a paper mill transform a burden to an economical and environmental benefit ?
In general, we need to create the need, as people tend to be open to new ideas, and as the world of paper is open to new initiatives where top paper industry managers can prepare for the momentous cultural and environmental change...or awakening call !
With more than 2 million tons of municipal solid waste that Lebanon generates yearly, there is around 15% composed of paper and cardboard, 11.5% of plastic, 5.5% of metal, 3.5% of glass and 52.5% of organic waste as of the 2013 data.
Since a while, the solid waste issue poses a threat on the community all over the country of Lebanon.
The question is how to transform the municipal solid waste from being a burden, to being a benefit ?
Widely regarded as “unwise” to invest without a feasibility study, or invest in a project you end up not seeing any money in your pocket, in a self-drained country like Lebanon, the Lebanese base company Sicomo, can now congratulate itself on making a “wise” choice by investing in WASTE !
In the following pages, we are going to talk thoroughly about this subject with Mr. Karim Haddad, Deputy General Manager at Sicomo, and about how the need created the idea, and the idea engendered the initiative, and how a burden had been transformed to a benefit.
Therefore, I leave you to unfold its content.
