In this issue of Paper Middleast, we are going to shed the light on Gemdoubs mill, a newly acquired French company by the Lebanese Gemayel Industrial Holding SAL.
The 130 years old mill has an area of approximately 130,000 sqm and produces testliner, fluting and cardboard consumed mainly by the local market.
Dr. Fady J. Gemayel owner of Gemdoubs, spoke about the acquisition, the current and future plans at the mill, the actual situation of the paper industry, also on the Lebanese industrialists
and young graduates.
Elected President of the Arab Federation for Paper, Printing and Packaging Industries, Dr. Gemayel believes that it’s possible to foster the interests of the paper industry in the region,
and develop attractive opportunities where potential can be realized when joining forces.
Another section of this issue will be dedicated to introduce to our readers some of the paper industry experts presenting products and systems to help resolve issues and improve the
production process and the quality of the paper/tissue/board produced.
emtec Electronic GmbH in the article called : “Predicting the behavior of paper and board surfaces during gluing, printing and coating processes” noticed that certain specifications based on
standard measurement methods are needed for paper and board while being converted (glued, printed or coated) in order to assure the required final quality of the finished product,
though converting problems still occur frequently and the reason is not certain.
“Optimization of Tissue Machine with Runtech’s solutions for energy savings, runnability and quality” is another article by Runtech Systems that has focused in productivity solutions
for the paper industry. It gives solutions for energy saving, for optimization of the machine runnability, and solution to improve the quality, and vacuum systems, also tips on a fast
recovery from paper breaks on tissue machines.
