The shows must go on
This year again, the autumn season is rich in gatherings for the paper industry in the MENA region.
After the 7th edition of the Paper Arabia International Exhbition that recently took place in Dubai, papermaker ,
converters and suppliers are invited to join the Paper ME expo in Cairo. Just a week before the Water
World conference and exhibition is to be held in Abu Dhabi to discuss the challenge of water management,
a crucial issue for our industry in countries where the resource is particurlarly scarce. Some time later, in Rabat,
the Moroccan paper manufacturers association (Fifage) and the French production technologies federation
(Symop), will welcome operators at a technical seminar around the theme of productivity and energy saving.
All those events offer opportunities for entrepeneurs and mill managers to share some market intelligence and
technical knowledge. In a recent international conference, we heard a series of consultants explaining how
some small investments and production adjustments can help producers gain in productivity, quality, safety, and in
the end make more money. We calculated that all the tips mentionned added together would improve the bottom
line by more than 100%. Not too realistic obviously, as most of the mills have kept investing on a regular basis
to enhance their production process. However, there is always room for improvements.
In a world where exchanging information is a key to success, we should encourage and support those who give us
so many occasions to learn from each other.
