From process data to production gains: emtec brings FPO insights to Tissue Summit North America

What if a change in fiber charge could be detected early enough to prevent unnecessary chemical consumption or accelerate a product changeover? At Tissue Summit North America 2026, emtec Electronic GmbH will put these practical production challenges at the center of its contribution to the event, showing how online measurement can help tissue manufacturers turn process data into tangible results.

Taking place November 2 – 3 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Tissue Summit North America brings together professionals from across the tissue industry.
As a Gold Sponsor, emtec will participate in the tabletop event alongside its American colleagues Mr. Rodger Segelstrom and Mr. Rocky Alston from emtec Electronic North America LLC. Mr. Eric Haagen will represent the German headquarters, combining the team’s regional expertise with emtec’s experience in measurement technology for the paper industry.

A key part of emtec’s showcase will be a presentation by Mr. Eric Haagen on the FPO Fiber Potential Analyzer Online titled “emtec FPO – Automated measurements for constant process and quality control”. Rather than focusing solely on the technology itself, the talk will explore the practical value of continuous zeta potential monitoring in paper production. Real-world application examples illustrate what this can mean on the production floor: one case study reports a 25% reduction in wet-strength agent consumption, while another demonstrates how a new two-ply gypsum board paper product was developed within just five hours during a production changeover. The FPO measures the zeta potential of fibers and fillers instantly during the process, enabling manufacturers to respond more quickly to deviations and make better-informed adjustments. The potential benefits include reduced chemical consumption, less downtime and more efficient use of resources.

With its contribution to Tissue Summit North America, emtec aims to shift the conversation from measurement alone to what reliable data can actually make possible: well-founded decisions, more effective production and measurable improvements. Visitors can meet Mr. Eric Haagen and the emtecNA team at the tabletop area to discuss individual measurement challenges, application requirements and opportunities to improve process performance. The team will also present emtec’s TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer, which objectively evaluates the tactile properties of tissue products and helps manufacturers connect measurable product characteristics with perceived softness.
