Discussing the future of the pulp and paper industry: emtec at the annual Symposium der Papieringenieure 2026

To drive transformation in an industry, young talent needs to be supported and uplifted. This year’s Symposium of Paper Engineers in Bremerhaven, Germany sets out to do just that by putting the focus on up-and-coming scientists with the lecture series “KLARTEXT.
TRANSFORMATION. Opportunities and challenges for the paper and pulp industry”. From October 22nd to 24th Sales Area Manager Eric Haagen will represent emtec at the Symposium to listen to student presentations and reports while taking the chance to network with other industry professionals during social events.

Last year’s Symposium was a home game for emtec, as it took place right here in Leipzig. The annual event is organized by the alumni associations APV Dresden, APV Darmstadt and VPM München and welcomes up to 400 visitors each year. This
year in Bremerhaven guests will once again include producers, suppliers and researchers of the paper industry. The gathering has quickly become tradition for seasoned experts and young scientists to connect, exchange knowledge and build professional relationships.

“This event truly presents an invaluable chance for companies to get in touch with the future generation of the industry and their experiences,” says Eric Haagen. “That’s why it’s so important to me and to emtec to visit the Symposium every year and see how the pulp and paper sector has evolved.” Haagen adds that he’s looking forward to sharing his own expertise with students and getting insight into what drives young scientists in the industry today.

After the lecture series and speed-mentoring highlights, the three-day gathering culminates in afternoon excursions and an social event on Saturday. As emtec is able to look back on 30 years of experience in measurement technology for pulp, paper and board, the German device manufacturer considers mentoring events like these to be essential for progress and
transformation in the industry.

Registration for the 2026 Symposium is still open and those interested in attending can get their tickets until October 22nd. Area Sales Manager Eric Haagen is looking forward to network!
